Hello:

In this picture(link2), does it show a thread of hair?
In this picture(link2), does the hand hold a strand of hair up?

And what does "a piece of hair" mean? Does it mean several threads of hair or only one thread of hair?

Thank you.

Where have you seen "a thread of hair" or "a piece of hair"?

The first one is simply a hair.

Depending on what you're talking about 'a piece of hair' could refer to 'a strand of hair', a cut off hair-end (as in post #5), or even a hair.

You can find a few examples of the expression 'piece of hair' in context in http://corpus.byu.edu/coca/

On the bottom left corner of the above newspaper: A thread of hair is made of dead cells, which is why it does not hurt to have your hair cut. When a thread of hair is long enough, the root stops making new cells for a while but after a few weeks...

The article is trying to somewhat scientifically (without colloquial language) describe the shape the dead cells form to a 10-year old. It is also trying to describe both hair and fur at the same time as if they are something different. I find it rather odd.

"Thread" of hair is not idiomatic. "Piece" of hair is likewise not idiomatic. (People will understand your meaning, but it will be immediately apparent that English is not your first language). One single hair can be referred to as "a hair" or "a strand of hair".
Therefore, in your 2nd picture, a "strand" of hair is not being held. Several strands are being held.
