I’m trying to set up a TP-Link Deco X50-5G router with my EE sim and while it connects to WiFi ok, it can’t connect to the internet. I suspect the custom APN settings I’ve entered are wrong.
I’ve previously been using a Huawai CPE Pro 2 which worked fine (settings below)
Has anyone used this router before and/or know what settings I should be using?
EDIT: added a screenshot from the router set up app. These are the fields I have available. Password is ‘secure’ (removed by the app when you take a screenshot)

Correct. It just didn’t display in the screenshot for some reason. Probably a security feature of the Deco app?

@leeds_guy what is the IP protocol setting for the APN? Try to set it to ipv4 only.

It lets you select IPV4, 6 or both. I think I tried 4 & both, but I’ll try again.
Another concern is that the app has an option to download new network settings, but this doesn’t seem to work even though I’m doing it on a strong 5G signal. The UI tells me the download was successful but the download option then returns (rinse and repeat)

Ignore the settings thing for now.
Try with ipv4 only apn, see what happens.

Tried every combination I can think of with the APN settings and all I ever get is either my SIM in not inserted (there’s only one way to insert it and it’s clicked into place) or there’s an issue with it (unpaid bill etc). The sim works fine in my Huawei router.

The APN line looks wrong. It should be the APN, such as "everywhere" (without quotes).

Hi @leeds_guy
I used this APN parameters via my Huawei:
Name: EE internet
APN: everywhere
Proxy: Not Required
Port: Not Required
Username: eesecure
Password: secure
Server: Not Required
In your case "Password" is empty.

Thanks. I used the same password as you I just forgot to display it before I took the screenshot. I’ve updated my original post with more info and screenshots. It’s convinced my settings are wrong but they all look fine to me?

@leeds_guy could you please check with authentication type: "PAP"?

Yep, my current setting has no quotes but doesn’t work

I tried all the authentication options (PAP, CHAP and ‘none’). Didn’t make any difference though.

One more think.. could you please use manual search of network and choose connection to the EE LTE?

I wouldn’t know where to start doing that? The app you have to use to set up the router doesn’t have a search function and all the error screens (linked in my original post) tell you to update the APN details to fix the issue. I’ve posted my most recent APN settings in a previous post so you can see which fields I have to play with.

Do you have access to router webpage?

Apparently there is one but I’ll need to reactivate the WiFi network on the deco before I can access it I think? It won’t open via 5g or when I’m using my huawei router. According to what I’ve read on the net, the options in the browser version are very limited though.

Presumably getting the router to use its inbuilt database to set the APN failed before attempting customization?

From memory it had a ‘Three’ APN already set, and one called ‘Custom’ (which I overwrote with the EE details). I’ve seen YouTube videos of it auto configuring other EU sims, but I always assumed I’d have to manually input the EE settings as I had to with the Huawei one

1. Fix the bug that the Deco X50-5G failed to register to the network
2. Fix the bug that the Deco X50-5G will connect to the 3G network after rebooting.
3. Fix the bug that the Deco X50-5G failed to connect to the Internet after switching the SIM card.
4. Improve stability.Note:
